About

May's Minis started in May 2020 as a quarantine project. I've always enjoyed playing crosswords, but didn't really start getting into it until I downloaded the NYT Crossword app in March. I'm not a subscriber, but the daily mini puzzles are free, so they became a part of my daily routine.

On April 31, it suddenly occurred to me that I could give crossword-making a go. I spent the entire evening making silly mini crosswords, sharing them with friends, and laughing until real tears started streaming down my face. It was the most I had laughed in a long time, and I realized that I had stumbled upon something that could not only spark joy for me, but also entertain others.

I spontaneously launched a crossword newsletter on May 1; the rest is history. As a writer and translator, I'm a big fan of wordplay. When I make crosswords, I aim for three things: humor, timeliness, and personality. I like hiding my friends' names, Taylor Swift references, and Star Wars characters in my puzzles. Thank you for supporting my project, and happy puzzling!
